Sometimes it’s nice to step outside of the box and plan a date that will both surprise and impress your partner. After meeting someone online in a chat dating site it is likely that you’ve chatted to the man or woman in question at length. If this is the case it should be easy to tailor a great date to their interest. Here are five great date ideas for those living in London.

The Literary Date

If your date is a keen reader or a book lover there’s no better place to go than Bloomsbury. Start with a coffee at the beautiful British Library and maybe check out what exhibition they are currently showing. After that, take a stroll through the area The Bloomsbury Pub for a bit of literary history. Carry on with a walk along to Speaker’s Corner in Hyde Park to watch some of the preachers and poets.

The Film Buff Date

Stick to the South Bank if your date happens to be a major film buff. The British Film Institute has plenty of rolling exhibitions which showcase work from some of the world’s most renowned film makers. Take a walk along The Thames to the London Film Museum to check out their current exhibitions then on to the Shortwave Cinema at Southwark for a screening of an independent film.

The Shopping Date

If you’ve caught on to the fact that your date might be heavily into shopping take a trip to the King’s Road in Chelsea. Browse the street’s top stores like Jaeger, Orla Kiely, and Peter Jones’ department store before stopping for something to eat. High Tea is the way to do things in Chelsea so head to the neighbourhood’s favourite cafe, The Bluebird, for tea and scones.

The Foodie Date

There’s no end of options for places to eat in London but if you want your date to go further than dinner, check out some of London’s best food hotspots first. Head down to Borough Market for coffee at Monmouth, taste some cheeses and cold cuts at the market, then pop into the Tea and Coffee Museum. Head into central London for dinner and pull up a bar stool somewhere like Polpo in Soho.

The Fun Date

Most women won’t tell you this but there’s nothing quite as romantic as a trip to the zoo. Take your date along to London Zoo at Regent’s Park to see some cuddly, and not so cuddly, creatures. After the zoo take a little canal boat trip between Little Venice and Camden Lock, then hop off and head out for some drinking time in Camden.
